WATCH HIM WIN By Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:57)
----Introduction
The journey of life is often marked by challenges, struggles, and the constant battle between good and evil. Yet, as believers, we are called to live in the assurance that God is the ultimate victor. This article explores the profound truth that our God is the Almighty Winner, and as His children, we are destined to walk in His victory. Despite the chaos and wickedness that prevail in the world, God's power remains unshaken, and His plans for His people are steadfast and victorious.
----God’s Sovereignty in a Chaotic World
The world is rife with confusion and wickedness, led by leaders who operate under demonic influence. These individuals, drunk on pride and consumed by selfish ambition, believe they can control the world. However, their plans are nothing more than delusions. "The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations." (Psalm 33:10-11). God remains sovereign, and no scheme of man or demon can thwart His ultimate authority.
----Victory Through Obedience
Our victory is rooted in our obedience to God and our steadfast trust in His Word. Jesus Christ exemplified this obedience when He submitted to the Father’s will, even unto death on the cross. What seemed like defeat to the world was, in fact, the greatest victory, as God raised Him from the dead and gave Him authority over all. "And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name." (Philippians 2:8-9).
----The Path of the Righteous
As followers of Christ, we are called to walk in the path of righteousness, forsaking the darkness and embracing the light. The carnal mind, which is enmity against God, must be subjected to the mind of the Spirit. "The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace." (Romans 8:6). When we yield to the Holy Spirit, we are guided in truth and strengthened to overcome the temptations and challenges of the world.
----Treasures for the Faithful
God has stored up treasures for those who remain faithful to Him. These treasures are not only eternal rewards but also the peace, joy, and love that come from living in His presence. "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." (Matthew 6:19-20). The faithful are assured of God’s provision and protection as they navigate life’s journey.
----The Joy of Victory
Despite the trials and tribulations, believers can rejoice in the knowledge that they are on the winning side. God’s power is unmatched, and His victory is guaranteed. "For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory." (Deuteronomy 20:4). This assurance should inspire us to remain steadfast, knowing that our efforts to live righteously are not in vain.
----Summary
The world’s chaos and wickedness cannot overshadow the sovereignty and victory of our God. As believers, we are called to trust in Him, walk in obedience, and forsake the darkness for the light. Through Jesus Christ, we have the assurance of victory, both now and in eternity. Our faithfulness to God is rewarded with treasures that surpass earthly riches and bring true fulfillment.
----Conclusion
In the face of worldly challenges, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. By choosing to follow Him and submit to His will, we align ourselves with the winning side. God’s plans for His people are perfect, and His power is unmatched. "No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me," declares the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17).
----Final Word of Encouragement
Be encouraged, dear believer, that you serve the Almighty God who never loses. Stay faithful, trust in His power, and walk in His ways. You are destined for victory because you belong to the One who always wins. Keep your eyes on Him, and watch Him win in every area of your life. "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:57).
