Introduction
Forgiveness is a divine principle that unlocks the mercies and blessings of God. Many people struggle with bitterness and resentment, often justifying their unwillingness to forgive. However, the refusal to forgive results in spiritual and emotional bondage, shutting off the flow of God's mercies. The Bible emphasizes the necessity of forgiveness as a way of aligning ourselves with God's will and receiving His continuous grace. Jesus Christ exemplified the power of forgiveness, even in the face of betrayal and suffering. As believers, we must strive to embrace forgiveness to experience the fullness of God’s love, peace, and favor.

The Command to Forgive
Forgiveness is not an option but a command from God. Throughout scripture, God instructs His people to forgive others, just as He forgives us. Holding grudges is a sign of spiritual immaturity and separation from God’s divine nature.
Colossians 3:13 (KJV)
"Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."

The Consequences of Unforgiveness
Bitterness and unforgiveness are toxic, leading to spiritual and emotional destruction. Those who refuse to forgive remain in bondage and hinder their own blessings. Unforgiveness not only affects the individual but also contaminates others, spreading discord and hatred.
Hebrews 12:15 (KJV)
"Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled."

Luke 23:34 (KJV)
"Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."
