Key Scripture: Psalm 115:14–15 (KJV)

“The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth.”

Introduction

God is sovereign over His people, His Kingdom, and His work on earth. He alone knows whom He desires to bring into His body, when they should come, and the purpose for which He has chosen them. Therefore, we must not allow personal preferences, hatred, prejudice, or human reasoning to determine who belongs among God's people. Our responsibility is to obey Him, seek His counsel, and trust Him to build His own body according to His will.

The Lord will add to us as He pleases. He will bring people together, joining one member to another according to His divine purpose. Some whom we would never have chosen may become instruments of great blessing in His hands. What appears unsuitable to human eyes may become a testimony of God's grace, transforming power, and favour.

Therefore, God's people must learn to surrender their opinions and preferences to His authority. We must not attempt to control what belongs to Him. Instead, we must seek His wisdom, welcome His will, and allow Him to establish His work in His own way.

At the same time, we must understand that God's work requires humility, brokenness, discernment, and obedience. We cannot build His Kingdom through human pride or self-will. We must allow Him to shape us and prepare us for His purposes. As we trust Him, He will bring the people He has chosen and cause His work to grow for His glory.

GOD ALONE ADDS TO HIS BODY

The Lord is the One who adds to His body according to His wisdom and purpose. We must not decide that certain people should be excluded merely because we dislike them, nor should we assume that everyone we admire is necessarily someone God has appointed to join us. Our duty is to obey God and allow Him to exercise His authority over His own work.

“And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” — Acts 2:47 (KJV)

The Church belongs to Jesus Christ, not to human beings. Therefore, no person should act as though he or she possesses the authority to determine God's entire plan. We must not allow personal disagreements, jealousy, resentment, or preferences to interfere with what the Lord desires to accomplish.

God may bring people whose presence challenges our assumptions and stretches our capacity to love, serve, and grow. What we consider an inconvenience may become an opportunity for spiritual maturity. What we regard as an unlikely addition may become a vessel through which God blesses many people.

Let us therefore rejoice in God's sovereignty. He knows how to join His people together, prepare them for service, and establish them in their respective places. Our responsibility is faithfulness, not control. We must trust the Lord to build His body according to His perfect wisdom.

GOD USES THE HAMMER OF DISCIPLINE TO BREAK HUMAN PRIDE

God's work cannot be sustained by human pride, arrogance, deception, or self-exaltation. When men and women are full of themselves, they tend to express their own desires rather than reveal the character of God. Their words and actions may be dominated by selfish ambition instead of humility and obedience.

For this reason, the Lord permits processes that humble us, expose our weaknesses, and bring us to the end of our self-reliance. Like a hammer that breaks what must be broken, God's discipline confronts the things in us that resist His authority. His purpose is not to destroy what He intends to redeem, but to bring us into submission so that His life and character may be revealed through us.

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” — Psalm 51:17 (KJV)

When a person is humbled before God, there is room for the Lord to work more freely through that person's life. Pride gives way to submission, self-interest gives way to obedience, and human boasting gives way to dependence on God's grace.

This process may test our faith, patience, and willingness to obey. Nevertheless, we must not resist the Lord's correction. We should welcome His transforming work and allow Him to remove whatever hinders His purpose in us. The goal is that our lives may increasingly reflect His holiness, truth, and power.

SEEK GOD'S COUNSEL BEFORE WELCOMING PEOPLE INTO HIS KINGDOM

Before we invite anyone into the work and fellowship of God's people, we must seek the counsel of the Lord. His Kingdom is not our personal possession, and His work must not be governed by human enthusiasm, pressure, or assumptions. We must ask Him for wisdom and discernment so that we do not act carelessly in matters that belong to Him.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)

God desires His people to depend on Him rather than presume that they already know what is best. We must not simply invite people because we feel that we need more members, workers, or supporters. Neither should we assume that every person we desire to bring into the work will necessarily serve God's purpose.

The Lord knows what we truly need, including the people He has prepared for particular assignments. We may think we need someone because of their influence, resources, talents, or connections, yet fail to consider the difficulties that may accompany our choice. Human appearances cannot replace divine wisdom.

Our strength is not found in the number of people around us, but in the presence and power of God. Therefore, we must seek Him continually, asking for His direction in every important decision. When we seek His counsel sincerely, we place ourselves in a position to receive wisdom rather than create unnecessary problems through our own assumptions.

PRAY FOR THOSE WHOM GOD DESIRES TO BRING

We must pray earnestly that the Lord will bring the people He has chosen for His purposes. God knows whom He intends to call, transform, equip, and use. Our responsibility is to pray, obey, and remain willing to receive those whom He brings according to His will.

However, we must not become judgmental when people arrive with troubled histories, weaknesses, or visible imperfections. Those whom God calls may come carrying the effects of sin, disappointment, broken relationships, destructive habits, or years of spiritual neglect. Their condition should not cause us to despise them or assume that they cannot change.

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” — Luke 19:10 (KJV)

We must remember that none of us was made acceptable to God through personal perfection. We all depend on His mercy, forgiveness, and transforming grace. If the Lord has changed us, we must never forget that He is able to work in the lives of others as well.

Therefore, let us look beyond a person's present condition and recognize God's ability to restore. This does not mean ignoring sin, abandoning discernment, or permitting harmful behaviour to continue without correction. Rather, it means refusing to treat people as though their past has placed them beyond the reach of God's mercy.

The Lord is the Restorer of lives. He can cleanse what is defiled, heal what is broken, correct what is wrong, and prepare people for His service. Let us trust Him to do His work while we remain faithful to His truth.

FOLLOW GOD'S LEADING WITHOUT PREJUDGING THE OUTCOME

When the Lord leads us in a particular direction, we must follow Him without trying to determine the entire outcome in advance. We are not called to write the conclusion of every story before God has finished His work. We are called to trust and obey Him.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.” — Psalm 37:23 (KJV)

Sometimes, God begins something whose full significance we cannot immediately understand. A person He brings may appear weak or unsuitable at first, yet through time, discipline, and spiritual growth, that person may become a blessing to many. What begins as a small development may eventually produce lasting fruit.

We must therefore avoid limiting God through our expectations. We should not demand that every person fit our preferred pattern before allowing God the opportunity to work in their lives. Instead, we must remain attentive to His direction and faithful to the responsibilities He has entrusted to us.

God is able to establish deep roots before visible growth appears. Just as a tree must develop strong roots to withstand storms and produce fruit, God's people must be established in truth, humility, faith, and obedience. Spiritual growth requires preparation, patience, and time.

Let us rejoice in what God is doing, even when the process differs from our expectations. His purpose is greater than our immediate understanding, and His work can become a source of life and blessing to many.

GOD'S ADDITIONS CARRY HIS PURPOSE

Every person whom God chooses for His work has a purpose in His plan. The Lord does not add people merely to increase numbers or create an impressive appearance. He desires His people to grow in spiritual maturity, service, faithfulness, and the fulfilment of His will.

“But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.” — 1 Corinthians 12:18 (KJV)

Each member has a place and a responsibility. Therefore, we must not despise those who appear insignificant, nor exalt those who appear influential. God's evaluation is not governed by outward appearance, social position, wealth, or human reputation.

Those whom He brings may have different abilities, backgrounds, and experiences. As they submit to His authority, He can shape their lives and use them according to His purpose. Our responsibility is to encourage what is right, uphold His truth, and serve faithfully alongside those He has placed among us.

We must not attempt to force God to follow our timetable or fulfil our personal ambitions. His wisdom is perfect, His authority is absolute, and His purposes extend beyond what we can presently see. We must therefore cooperate with Him in humility, trusting that He knows how to establish His work.

SUMMARY

The Lord is the One who adds to His body, joins His people together, and prepares them for His purposes. We must not allow personal prejudice, pride, hatred, or human reasoning to determine what belongs to God. Instead, we must seek His counsel, submit to His discipline, and trust His ability to transform those He calls.

We must welcome God's leading without judging people solely by their present condition. At the same time, we must remain committed to truth, holiness, and discernment. The Lord is able to restore lives, establish strong foundations, and produce fruit that benefits many people.

CONCLUSION

God's work belongs to God. He knows whom He will bring, how He will prepare them, and what He intends to accomplish through them. Our responsibility is not to control His work but to obey Him faithfully.

Let us allow the Lord to break our pride, correct our assumptions, and teach us to depend on His wisdom. Let us pray for those He desires to bring and trust His transforming power in their lives. As we follow His leading, He will establish His people according to His purpose and bring forth fruit for His glory.

CALL TO ACTION

Examine your heart and surrender every personal preference that conflicts with God's will. Seek His counsel before making decisions about His work. Pray for those He is calling, refuse to despise those who need restoration, and remain faithful to His truth.

Do not try to control whom God adds or dictate how His work must unfold. Submit to Him, follow His direction, and trust Him to accomplish what He has purposed.

FINAL ENCOURAGEMENT

People of God, rejoice because the Lord remains sovereign over His body and His work. He is able to bring together those whom He has chosen, transform their lives, establish them in truth, and make them fruitful. Do not limit Him by your expectations or resist His leading because of personal preferences. Remain humble, prayerful, obedient, and willing to serve. The Lord knows what He is doing, and His purposes are greater than our understanding.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

Heavenly Father, I come before You in the name of Jesus Christ. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and that I need Your mercy and forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again. I repent of my sins and invite Jesus Christ to be Lord and Saviour of my life. Cleanse me, transform me, and teach me to walk in Your truth. Give me a humble and obedient heart that seeks Your will above my own. Lead me by Your Holy Spirit and establish my life in Your purpose. From this day forward, help me to follow You faithfully and glorify Your holy name. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
