THE KINGDOM OF GOD VS. THE KINGDOMS OF THIS WORLD By: Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: John 18:36 – "Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence."

Introduction
Throughout history, the rulers of this world have often strayed from the path of righteousness, leading nations into chaos, moral decay, and destruction. Many leaders operate out of arrogance, greed, and the intoxication of power, forgetting that they are mere mortals subject to the authority of the Almighty God. The Word of God makes it clear that His people are not to conform to the ways of this world but to remain steadfast in His Kingdom, which is eternal and founded on righteousness.
This article seeks to highlight the corruption of worldly leadership, the dangers of aligning with ungodly rulers, and the divine call for believers to remain faithful to God's commands. The times we live in demand spiritual discernment, unwavering faith, and complete surrender to God's will.

The Corruption of Worldly Leadership
Proverbs 29:2 – "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."
The world is witnessing a rise in unrighteous leadership, where those in authority pass laws that are in direct disobedience to God's commandments. Many leaders operate under the influence of demonic forces, making decisions that bring ruin and destruction. Instead of governing with wisdom, justice, and fear of the Lord, they succumb to pride and the intoxication of power.
The result is moral decline, oppression, and the exaltation of wickedness. God warns His people not to follow such leaders but to keep their eyes fixed on the eternal Kingdom.

The People of God Are Not of This World
Philippians 3:20 – "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ."
As believers, our allegiance is to God's Kingdom, not the temporary systems of this world. Jesus emphasized that His followers are pilgrims passing through, destined for an eternal Kingdom. The policies and decisions of worldly governments should not dictate our moral compass. Instead, we are called to live according to God's standards, standing firm in righteousness even when the world embraces sin.

The Deception of Power and the Influence of Darkness
Ephesians 6:12 – "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Many world leaders are deceived into believing they are all-powerful, acting as if they are above divine authority. They legislate immorality, oppress the righteous, and exalt evil. However, their power is temporary, and their downfall is inevitable. The Bible warns that the rulers of this world are often under the influence of demonic forces, leading people into greater wickedness.
The Church must recognize this battle and remain prayerful, seeking God’s wisdom instead of being swayed by the political tides of the world.

The Call to Spiritual Discernment and Godly Wisdom
James 1:5 – "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
God’s people are not left to wander in confusion. Through the Holy Spirit, believers have access to divine wisdom and direction. Instead of being caught up in political affairs that are driven by deceit, we are called to seek God's guidance in all things.
By surrendering to the Holy Spirit, we are led in truth and protected from the deceptions of the world. Our faith should not be placed in earthly leaders but in the sovereign rule of God.

The Inevitable Fall of the Wicked
Psalm 37:10 – "For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be."
The wicked may seem to prosper, but their destruction is certain. History has shown that corrupt leaders who rise in arrogance eventually fall. God is not mocked—He will bring judgment upon those who defy His commands and lead others into sin.
Therefore, as believers, we must not be discouraged by the seeming success of the ungodly. Instead, we must remain steadfast in our faith, knowing that righteousness will ultimately prevail.

However, God's people are not called to conform to this world but to remain steadfast in His Kingdom. As believers, we must not be deceived by political agendas but seek wisdom from God, recognizing that our ultimate authority is in heaven.

Prayer of Salvation
Heavenly Father, I come before You, acknowledging that I am a sinner in need of Your grace. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again on the third day. I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus is Lord. Forgive me of my sins, cleanse me, and make me a new creation. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and lead me in the path of righteousness. From this day forward, I surrender my life to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
