UNASHAMED IN CHRIST: LIVING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS AND AVOIDING SIN By: Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture:
"And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed." (Genesis 2:25)

INTRODUCTION
From the beginning, God created humanity in a state of innocence and purity. Adam and Eve lived in unashamed openness before God until sin entered the world through disobedience. Shame, guilt, and separation from God became the consequences of their actions. Today, many live under the weight of sin, deceived by demonic influences, and separated from the peace of God. However, through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, believers are called to live unashamed, free from sin, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. This teaching explores the nature of sin, its consequences, and the pathway to living a righteous and unashamed life in Christ.

SIN AND SHAME: THE FALL OF MAN
"But the serpent said to the woman, 'You will not surely die.'" (Genesis 3:4)
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were unashamed because they had not sinned. Their obedience to God kept them in perfect harmony with Him. However, when they listened to the voice of the serpent and disobeyed God's command, shame entered their lives. Their eyes were opened, and they realized their nakedness, which led them to hide from God's presence (Genesis 3:7-8).
Sin brings shame, fear, and separation from God. Those who live in sin find themselves burdened by guilt and unable to walk in the freedom that God intended. Even today, many are spiritually naked before God, exposed in their sin, yet unwilling to repent.

THE INFLUENCE OF EVIL IN THE WORLD
"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness." (Isaiah 5:20)
We live in perilous times where evil is widespread, and people openly reject God’s truth. Many are deceived by demonic forces and engage in sinful practices without remorse. The rejection of God leads to destruction, and those who embrace wickedness are devoid of peace.
The Bible warns that in the last days, people will be lovers of themselves, proud, blasphemous, and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Timothy 3:1-5). The world is filled with rebellion, idolatry, and depravity, all of which lead to eternal separation from God.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF CHOOSING SIN
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
Every act of sin leads to destruction. Some individuals are victims of generational sin, while others willingly indulge in idolatry and rebellion. Whether through ignorance or deliberate choices, sin results in spiritual death and curses upon future generations (Exodus 20:5).
Those who choose sin over righteousness find themselves bound by demonic oppression, experiencing torment, emptiness, and dissatisfaction. Instead of enlightenment, they are met with despair. Instead of joy, they reap sorrow. True freedom can only be found in Christ.

THE REDEMPTION THROUGH CHRIST
"Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." (John 8:36)
God, in His mercy, has provided a way of escape from sin and shame through Jesus Christ. Those who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior are forgiven and cleansed by His blood. No longer are they slaves to sin; instead, they walk in righteousness, led by the Holy Spirit.
Through salvation, believers receive divine guidance and the power to live a victorious life. The presence of the Holy Spirit enables them to overcome temptation and resist the schemes of the enemy (1 Corinthians 10:13).

LIVING UNASHAMED IN CHRIST
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes." (Romans 1:16)
As believers, we are called to walk in obedience and holiness, free from shame and condemnation. Those who live in Christ experience true peace and joy, knowing they are no longer bound by the chains of sin.
Living unashamed means embracing righteousness, standing firm in faith, and boldly proclaiming the truth of the Gospel. It means rejecting the ways of the world and choosing to serve God with a pure heart.

SUMMARY
Sin brought shame, separation, and destruction into the world, but through Christ, believers are redeemed and made whole. Those who reject God’s ways remain in spiritual darkness, while those who embrace righteousness walk in divine freedom.

CONCLUSION
God did not create humanity for destruction but for fellowship with Him. Sin distorts this relationship, but through Jesus, restoration is possible. The choice to serve God leads to eternal life, while the choice to indulge in sin leads to destruction.
