WHAT CALLS ITSELF CHRISTIANITY By Major. Frank Materu

Key Scripture:

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; and that from a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:13-15)

Introduction:

God, the Living One, never intended for His people to be so preoccupied with the struggles and distractions of this world that they forget about Him.

Yet, when we examine what calls itself Christianity, we must ask:

- Where is their love?

- Where is their zeal?

- Where is their passion for God?

Today, many who claim to follow Christ are more consumed with comfort, worldly matters, and vanity than with God Himself.

They have misplaced their focus and priorities, choosing temporary pleasures over eternal truths.

A Church Distracted:

God intended His people to always be directed, guided, and centered on Him.

If we truly believe, trust, and follow God,

He alone will give us the truth—a truth that brings life, power, and His glory.

Yet, when we look at what calls itself the Church of Christ, it is a shame to His name.

The Church, as we see it, is spiritually diseased.

- It is filled with sickness and corruption.

- It has fallen into unfaithfulness, aligned itself with the ways of the world, and compromised its purity by sleeping with spiritual harlotry.

- It has attached itself to falsehood and deceit, straying far from God.

This so-called Church is no longer a vessel of God's power and integrity but a source of deception, lies, and manipulation.

A Church Corrupted:

God never intended His people to be easily deceived or led astray.

However, the Church has given itself over to the influence of spiritual harlots and lies.

It has abandoned its sacred purpose for worldly gain, turning its back on the God who called it to holiness.

We now live in a time when what calls itself the Church of God has exalted its wickedness before the face of the Lord.

This means:

- It has embraced what God forbids.

- It has twisted His truth to appear as though God Himself approves of its corruption.

Because of this rebellion, the so-called Church now stands before God as a disgrace.

“…that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (Ephesians 5:27)

A False Bride:

The Church that calls itself the Bride of Christ is no bride at all. It is a harlot, unfaithful, defiled, and filled with corruption.

God, in His holiness, rejects it:

- It is covered with sores and unclean wounds.

- It has aligned itself with the world and lost its sanctity.

God is not deceived by the flattering words of harlots.

When they speak sweetly to Him, He rejects them.

Despite sending His prophets to cry out, "Repent! Repent! Repent!" few have listened.

God’s Wrath is Coming:

Because of its arrogance and its choice to walk in wickedness, the judgment of God is inevitable.

Scripture declares:

“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begins at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17)

Do not be surprised or discouraged by what you see or hear.

It is the Living God who permits His judgment to fall upon the false Church that has turned away from Him.

Conclusion:

The Church that aligns itself with deception, compromise, and corruption has become an object of God's wrath.

Yet, this is also a call to true believers—to rise, stand firm in the truth, and return to God with repentance and faith.

Let us not be part of the false Church that God rejects.

Instead, let us be the glorious Church without spot or blemish, prepared to walk in holiness and truth, always pleasing to the Lord.

Rise, repent, and remain faithful to the Living God!
