For the Aggressive Christian By Major. Frank Materu
Key Scripture:
1 Peter 2:9
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
Introduction:
In the Christian walk, we are called to live with boldness and zeal, actively pursuing God's kingdom and standing firm in our faith.
The aggressive Christian is one who takes a proactive stance against the enemy, relentlessly pursuing holiness, righteousness, and the advancement of God's kingdom.
This does not mean physical aggression, but a spiritual fervor that pushes back against sin, worldly influence, and the forces of darkness. As followers of Christ, we must embody a passionate commitment to holiness and a readiness to fight for what is right.
Subtitles with Supportive Scripture:
1. The Call to Stand Firm in Faith
“Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” – Ephesians 6:10
The aggressive Christian stands unwavering in faith, trusting in God’s power and might. We are called to put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:11) and stand firm against the wiles of the enemy.
Our strength comes not from ourselves, but from the Lord who equips us to face every spiritual battle.
2. Pursuing Holiness with Zeal
“But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.” – 1 Peter 1:15
Holiness is not optional for the aggressive Christian; it is a command. We are called to pursue purity, righteousness, and godliness.
A passionate, aggressive Christian does not make peace with sin but seeks to live a life set apart for God, continually striving for personal sanctification.
3. Overcoming the Power of Darkness
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness…” – Ephesians 6:12
The aggressive Christian understands the nature of spiritual warfare. We battle against the spiritual forces of evil, not against human beings.
Through prayer, fasting, and the power of God’s Word, we actively push back the darkness and declare the victory of Christ in every area of life.
4. Being Bold in Proclaiming the Gospel
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” – Matthew 28:19
An aggressive Christian is not timid in spreading the message of the gospel. We are called to proclaim Christ boldly and without fear, reaching the lost with the message of salvation. This mission requires courage, boldness, and urgency in bringing the good news to every corner of the earth.
5. Taking Authority Over the Enemy
“Behold, I have given you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” – Luke 10:19
The aggressive Christian recognizes the authority they have in Christ to overcome the forces of darkness.
We stand in the power of the Holy Spirit, taking authority over evil forces and declaring victory over the enemy. We do not shrink back but press forward, knowing that we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37).
6. Pressing Toward the Goal
“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:14
An aggressive Christian is determined to keep advancing in their walk with God, never looking back or giving up. No matter the obstacles or challenges, we are committed to pressing forward toward the goal of knowing Christ and fulfilling His will for our lives.
7. Fighting the Good Fight of Faith
“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…”
– 1 Timothy 6:12
Christianity is not for the faint-hearted. The aggressive Christian engages in a fight of faith, not relying on their own strength, but trusting in God’s promises and power. We fight spiritual battles with the full knowledge that victory belongs to us through Jesus Christ.
Conclusion:
The aggressive Christian is a believer who does not settle for mediocrity but pursues a life of victory in every area of their walk with God.
We are not called to be passive or complacent but to take a proactive role in advancing God’s kingdom. With boldness, courage, and authority, we face the challenges of life, knowing that in Christ, we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37).
Let us commit ourselves to be aggressive in our faith, pursuing holiness, evangelizing the lost, and overcoming the powers of darkness. The kingdom of God requires warriors of faith who will stand firm and proclaim the excellencies of the One who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
