THE PACK OF WOLVES By Major. Frank Materu
Introduction
In the spiritual realm, there exists a grave danger of wolves disguised as shepherds, seeking to devour and destroy.
Many believers today are deceived and misled, following paths that lead to destruction. As Christians, we must open our eyes to the truth, embrace God’s correction, and distance ourselves from ungodly influences.
This teaching sheds light on the importance of discernment, the danger of associating with false teachers, and the call to follow the true Shepherd.
Key Scripture:
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." (John 10:27, NKJV)
1. The Nature of Wolves in the Flock
False teachers and ungodly influences often infiltrate the church, leading others astray under the guise of spirituality.
These individuals reject God’s correction and guidance, promoting rebellion instead of righteousness.
Scriptural Warning:
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves." (Matthew 7:15, NKJV)
Key Traits of Wolves:
Rejection of Discipline: Wolves despise correction and teach others to reject godly guidance.
Destructive Intentions: Their goal is to harm and devour, not to build or nurture.
Deceptive Appearance: They pretend to belong to God, yet their actions betray them.
Reflection:
Are we aligning ourselves with those who bear the fruit of the Spirit, or are we unknowingly walking with wolves?
2. The Danger of Associating with Wolves
Remaining in the company of false teachers and ungodly influences places our spiritual lives at risk. A lamb that stays among wolves is bound to be torn apart and devoured.
Scriptural Insight:
"Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you." (2 Corinthians 6:17, NKJV)
Key Points:
Compromise Leads to Destruction: Associating with ungodly influences weakens our faith and leads to spiritual ruin.
Deception and Manipulation: Wolves use persuasive words to lead others astray, seeking to control and destroy.
God’s Call to Separation: Believers are called to leave ungodly associations and align themselves with God’s truth.
Action Step:
Reflect on your relationships and influences. Are they drawing you closer to God or pulling you away from Him?
3. Embracing God’s Correction God’s discipline is an expression of His love, designed to guide us back to His will. Unlike wolves, who despise correction, true followers of Christ embrace it with humility.
Scriptural Assurance:
"For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives." (Hebrews 12:6, NKJV)
The Value of Correction:
Spiritual Growth: Discipline refines us and helps us bear fruit for God’s kingdom.
Protection from Deception: God’s guidance keeps us from falling into the traps set by false teachers.
A Sign of Sonship: Receiving correction affirms our identity as God’s children.
Encouragement:
Do not fear God’s discipline; embrace it as a pathway to righteousness and freedom.
4. The Call to Follow the True Shepherd
God’s sheep recognize His voice and follow Him faithfully. They reject false shepherds and seek the truth found in His Word.
Scriptural Encouragement:
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10, NKJV)
Practical Steps:
1. Seek God’s Voice: Spend time in prayer and Scripture to discern His will.
2. Separate from Ungodly Influences: Avoid those who lead you into sin or compromise.
3. Join Godly Fellowship: Surround yourself with believers who live according to God’s Word.
4. Commit to God’s Standards: Live by His principles and resist worldly temptations.
Conclusion
The wolves in our midst may seem appealing, but their true intentions are to deceive and destroy. God calls us to be vigilant, to embrace His correction, and to follow His voice.
By distancing ourselves from ungodly influences and seeking His guidance, we can walk confidently in His will.
Final Encouragement:
"But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." (Jude 1:20-21, NKJV)
Let us rise as discerning followers of Christ, rejecting the lies of the enemy and embracing the truth of the Good Shepherd.
