THE FILTHY THING THAT CALLS ITSELF HIS CHURCH By Major. Frank Materu

“And now, you priests, this command is for you. If you do not listen, and if you do not resolve to honor my name,” says the Lord Almighty, “I will send a curse on you, and I will curse your blessings.

Yes, I have already cursed them because you have not resolved to honor me.

Because of you, I will rebuke your descendants; I will smear on your faces the dung from your festival sacrifices, and you will be carried off with it.” (Malachi 2:1–3)

Introduction:

When you examine the rotten, filthy thing that dares to call itself God’s Church, what do you see?

You see people bowing down to a golden calf called self.

This is idolatry—worshiping what their own hands have made.

They have abandoned God, turned to spiritual adultery, and yet claim to be the Church of Christ.

But the Lord, in His righteousness, is calling out to His people to repent.

To those trapped in lies and deception, bound by their own pride and false worship, He offers a way out.

Yet many have chosen destruction over salvation.

A Church of Self-Worship

Many who claim to represent Christ have been captivated by false teachers who lead them astray.

These leaders are greedy, power-hungry, and focused on earthly gain.

They no longer proclaim the truth of God but instead teach doctrines of the flesh.

The so-called Church has been filled with worldly pride, built on the praises of men rather than the power of God.

They exalt their accomplishments, boasting, “Look at what we have built!”

But their pride blinds them to the fact that God is not among them.

False Worship and Idolatry:

False worship thrives as they bow to modern-day idols—success, pleasure, fame, and worldly philosophies.

These idols have infiltrated the Church, leading many to participate in what Scripture calls spiritual adultery.

John warned:

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.”(1 John 2:15–16)

Dining at Jezebel’s Table:

Those who feast at Jezebel’s table—indulging in offerings dedicated to idols—lose their appetite for God.

They no longer desire to die to self, carry the cross, or consider all things as loss to gain Christ.

Instead, they become preoccupied with the here and now, consumed by their fleshly desires.

By dining at Jezebel’s table, they ingest poison that destroys their spiritual lives and leads them further into darkness.

God calls His people to reject such filth:

“Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” (2 Corinthians 6:17)

A Call to True Repentance:

The modern Church has defiled itself in ways unimaginable.

Instead of presenting Christ in His purity, they have dressed Him up in worldly makeup, creating a weak, drunken, and corrupt version of the Bride.

They have failed to preach the gospel with boldness, exchanging the truth for comfort and applause.

God sees the hypocrisy and deceit of those who claim to serve Him but are far from His ways.

Yet He calls them to repentance. His message is clear:

“Preach the truth as I have given it to you. Do not fear the outcome but leave the results to Me.”

Conclusion:

The Lord Almighty is watching His Church, calling for those who truly love Him to rise and declare the truth.

He has no tolerance for falsehood, hypocrisy, or idolatry.

The time has come for His people to stand firm, rejecting the lies and proclaiming His holy Word with courage.

The filth within the Church must be exposed and cleansed.

Let us heed His call to repentance, for only then can we be restored to His purpose and glory.

“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 3:22)
