A Call to True Repentance and Faithfulness to God’s Purpose By: Major. Frank Materu

Key Verse:

“Return to Me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 1:3

God’s Expectation of Faithfulness

God never intended for His people to be ashamed of Him, yet many have continually denied His purpose and His plan.

True repentance requires embracing God’s ways and walking in His intended path.

Those who refuse to repent are, in effect, refusing God Himself.

He seeks hearts that remain open to His Spirit, ready to turn from sin.

The Dangers of Complacency

It is a grave mistake to think we are so perfect, so forgiven, that we no longer need to repent.

God, through His Spirit, desires to reveal hidden sins, yet if we close ourselves off, we risk falling prey to darkness.

Repentance must be a continual process; otherwise, we risk spiritual vulnerability.

The Decline of His Church

God has watched the decline of what was once His church—a church now corrupted by complacency and compromise, growing filthier over the years.

His mercy has been patient, awaiting those who would genuinely repent and be true to Him.

However, very few have responded, and His wrath approaches as a consequence.

Yet, His faithful remnant—those who continue to walk in His ways—will still receive His mercy.

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.” Matthew 7:13

Paying the Price for Past Generations’ Failures

Today, we bear the weight of past generations’ sins—those who promised great things in God’s name yet indulged themselves instead.

The blessings they received were misused, with resources wasted on vanity instead of the promised evangelism.

They failed to fulfill their promises, and their rebellion has brought curses upon us.

“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Galatians 5:13

Conclusion: The Call to Faithfulness and Stewardship

We must heed the lessons of the past and turn away from pride, greed, and self-indulgence.

Let us return to true repentance, use our resources wisely, and faithfully serve God’s purpose.

God seeks a church that stands firm in His truth, living in humility, and fulfilling His call to reach the lost.
